Sponsorship explained
The sponsorship framework allows UK organisations to authorise non-UK nationals to work in the UK, by assigning Certificates of Sponsorship (COSs) to them. A COS is like a work permit. However, rather than being issued by the UK government, approved sponsors assign COSs using an online system called the Sponsorship Management System (SMS). Non-UK national workers use the COS to apply for their UK immigration permission or UK visas.
Different types of sponsor licences are available for different types of workers including new hires, transferees of overseas offices of the same corporate group, creatives, contractors and others.
A sponsor licence is a powerful tool and entails responsibilities. The UK government requires COS to be assigned only in strict compliance with specified requirements. In addition to compliance duties, sponsors fulfil recordkeeping and reporting duties. Changes Immigration provides advice on the HR systems required to support sponsor duties. We will populate the sponsor licence application form and submit the correct supporting documents to the Home Office on your behalf.
Once a sponsor licence is granted, we will ensure your organisation can sponsor workers quickly and smoothly. Get in touch for robust support with sponsorship matters.
